Hayes Biomedical Visuals

When Suzanne Hayes reached out to us needing a new Squarespace website for her medical, scientific and technical visuals, we had never heard of the biomedical illustration industry before. What a fun and exciting project it turned out to be!

THE JOURNEY: OUR PROCESS

Just like with any of our other website projects, we took a couple of weeks to study and research the medical illustration industry. We also spent a substantial amount of time checking out websites from other individuals in the industry. We wanted the Hayes Biomedical Visuals site to be professional and minimalist. Being an avid designer herself, Suzanne redesigned her logo with her new chosen primary and secondary colors; a dark cyan and gray.

When building the website, we used the colors she chose in her logo, as well as accents of vibrant orange and beige. As you can imagine with any illustration-based website, the header banner needed to stand out and make a statement. This was easy to accomplish with one of Suzanne’s incredible illustrations.

On her home page, we created several call to actions, included testimonials, presented a “Meet the Illustrator” section, and showcased a few of her featured illustrations. We integrated special features in her website such as a slideshow carousel of her work, a portfolio with hovering captions and lightbox, a social media automated feed, appointment booking tool / integration with Calendly, and an accordion FAQ’s dropdown.
